PJ Trick Challenge: June

Happy first of the month! I can't believe we are already in June! That means a NEW trick challenge! J is for JADE. We have included different variations ranging from Intermediate to Advanced. You must be comfortable in an outside leg hang to enter this month's challenge. 
Up for grabs: a £50 PJ voucher!


How to enter:

So, let's dive straight into it, shall we? 

Intermediate Variation #1

1. Start in an outside leg hang. 


2. Pull your inside leg towards your face by grabbing onto the calf with your outside hand. 


3. Squeeze the pole in your inside armpit by creating "glute shelf" with your inside arm. See photo of the next variation for a clearer shot of the glute shelf.


4. Unhook the outside leg and create a pike position with both legs.

Intermediate Variation #2

Using your hip flexor, lift the outside leg up by 45 degrees. Keep pushing the inner thigh into the pole. Keep squeezing the pole in your inside armpit. Engage your quads and point your toes. 

Advanced: Jade Split

1. Enter the Jade Pike. 


2. While pulling your inside leg towards your face, push your outside leg all the way back into an active split. The pole should really be pushing into your inside inner thigh and side body. Engage your back glute to stretch your outside hip flexor as much as possible. 

Advanced Progression:

This variation requires more strength and flexibility. From your Jade Split, engage your outside hamstring to kick the heel towards your glutes. Release the inside hand from the glute and reach for the back foot/shin area while squeezing the pole into your inside armpit and bicep as hard as you can. Keep engaging the back glute muscle by kicking the back leg down towards the floor.
